4 fresh tomatoes or 1 lg. can tomatoes (juice included)
Coarsely chop cabbage, onions and tomatoes. Place first 6 ingredients in large heavy pot with enough water and/or tomato juice to just see through veggies. Simmer until vegetables are tender but not mushy. Sprinkle with onion soup mix and stir in. Add cooked ground beef and simmer slowly 30 to 45 minutes. Small dice potatoes may be added with meat if desired. Cook for 6-8 hours on low in a 5 quart crockpot.
