Blend buttermilk, salt and sugar. Add beaten egg. Add and beat in small amounts of flour until mixture forms stringy thickness when poured from a spoon. Add baking soda and baking powder, mix thoroughly. Melt butter or margarine and blend into mixture. Pour 1/4 cup or less on a hot, lightly greased griddle or heavy skillet until surface is golden brown and bubbly. Turn and cook on other side.
