3/4 cup shortening (part butter)
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon extract
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Cut out a simple ghost pattern on
heavy craft paper.
Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and flavoring
well. Blend in flour, baking powder and
Salt. Wrap in foil. Chill at least 1 hour.
When dough is chilled, roll out a small
amount at a time on floured board (pastry
board) to 1/8 inch thickness. Place the
ghost pattern on dough and cut around it
using tip of a sharp knife. Place on
ungreased baking sheet. Bake 6 to 8
minutes or until very light brown.
Cool and ice with confectioners sugar
icing.
