Barbecued Baked Beans
1 1/2 lbs. navy beans
1 1/2 c. dark brown sugar
1 c. molasses
4 c. tomato juice
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. paprika
2 tbsp. butter
1 onion, minced
4 oz. bacon, diced
Instructions
Soak beans overnight in water, covering beans. Drain and cover with fresh water. Bring to boil and simmer until tender. Drain beans and rinse under cold water. Place in mixing bowl. Combine sugar, molasses, tomato juice, seasonings. Pour over beans and blend. Heat butter, saute onion until tender in skillet. Stir in
beans with bacon. Pour into large casserole. Cover and bake 30 minutes at 300 degrees. Uncover and bake 30 minutes. Add water if too dry.
